SQL Database vs SQL Managed Instance
- SQL Database (Single/elastic pool) will be created in New Virtual Network maintained by Azure. Managed SQL Instance can be created in your Virtual Network in any subnet.
- SQL Managed Instance supports SQL Server Addons SSIS, SSRS.
- SQL Managed Instance is widely used for migrations i.e. migrating onpremise SQL server to Azure.
