MultiCloud Classroom notes 15/Sep/2026

Azure access tiers

  • these access tiers used for cost optimization and based on access time.
  1. Hot:
  • access frequently
  • access latency is very low (milliseconds)
  • storage cost high
  • access cost low
  • active workloads , frequently wirte/read data
  1. cool
  • short-term access file
  • store cost ~50% less then hot tier
  • access latency is very low (milliseconds)
  • access cost is little higher then hot access
  • 30 more then
  1. cold
  • access latency (milliseconds)
  • less then cool storage
  • min storage duratiuon will be 90days
  • access cold is higger then cold
  • long term backups, rarely accessing files, archive files
  1. archive
  • access latency (hours)
  • files will be archived
  • min storage duratiuon will be 180 days
  • storage cost is low 90% cheper then hot
  • access cost is higher
  • access time will be ~HOUR UPTO 12 HOURS

lifecycle mangment:

  • automate access tier transitions
  • apply lifecycle rules
    • account level
    • bob level (container level)
  • Create lifecycle rule
    • create date or last modified date
    • select conditions
      • move to cool
      • move to cold
      • move to archive
      • delete blob
