Load Balancer

  • Load balancing refers to evenly distributing network traffic across a group of backend resources or servers

  • Azure load balancer can be used for cross region load balancing in the case of Highly Available architectures Preview

  • Azure Load Balancer operates at layer 4 of OSI Model. The backedn pool instances can be Virtual Machines or instances in Virtual Machine Scale set

    • Public Load Balancer
    • Internal (Private) Load balancer
  • Scenarios that can be accomplished by Load Balancer

    • Load balance internal or external traffic to Azure VMs
    • Increase availability by distributing resources within and across zones
    • Using health probes to monitor load-balanced resoruces
