- Starting:
- VM is Starting up.
- In this state you will not be billed for vm usage
- Running:
- Working State of VM
- In this state you will be billed for vm usage
- Stopping State:
- This is a transitional state. When it is completed it will show as Stopped
- In this state you will be billed for vm usage
- Stopped:
- VM has been shut down but Hardware is still allocated to the VM
- In this state you will be billed for vm usage
- Deallocating:
- This is a tranisitional State. When it is completed you will be in deallocated stated
- In this state you will not be billed for vm usage
- Deallocated:
- VMI is stopped and removed from the physical host
- In this state you will not be billed for vm usage
Azure VM Purchasing Options
- Pay as you go:
- In this purchasing you can create the VM’s on-demand and the billing will be applied as long as your vm’s are running.
- Reservations:
- Reservation is one-year or three year plans for multiple products in azure. This reservation can save the costs upto 72%
- Payment modes are full upfront, partial upfront and pay as you go
- Spot VM: Using Spot VMs allows us take advantage of unused capacity in azure regions with significant discounts. Here you can bid for spot vm’s for a particular price, when the vm is at or less that that price it will be allocated to you. Once the price increases the vm will be evicted.
