Backups, Restores and Snapshots

• Backup of the RDS database is referred as Snapshot.
• Manual backup of RDS
  • Create Snapshot:
• System Backup: Enabled by selecting the backup options in the RDS instance
• Automated Backups: System snapshots are result of the Automated backups configured in RDS
• Exporting Snapshot to Amazon S3

Amazon Aurora

• This is a cloud optimized MySQL and PostgreSQL compatible relational database.
• On average, we get upto five times the increase in performance by running an Aurora mysql compared to regular mysql
