Azure Monitor

  • Monitoring Service Provide by azure which helps in collecting, viewing, analyzing and acting on monitoring information collected from Azure as well as on-premises workloads

Monitoring Azure Virtual Machines

  • Navigate to the VM and in the overview section, we see some graphs

  • Now, Navigate to Monitoring => Insights and enable and create a log analytics workspace

  • Wait for the Insights to be enabled

  • Look at Metrics

  • Now Create an Alert when Percentage CPU > 70 % for 5 mins

  • Exercise: Create Alerts for Azure SQL Database for any metric

  • This data can be collected for On-Premise Linux and Windows Machines as well

  • Monitoring applications from code is also available
